Note:These pages make extensive use of the latest XHTML and CSS Standards. They ought to look great in any standards-compliant modern browser. Unfortunately, they will probably look horrible in older browsers, like Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x. Moreover, many posts use MathML, which is, currently only supported in Mozilla. My best suggestion (and you will thank me when surfing an ever-increasing number of sites on the web which have been crafted to use the new standards) is to upgrade to the latest version of your browser. If that's not possible, consider moving to the Standards-compliant and open-source Mozilla browser.

Re: Categories in Geometry Conference

Hi David,

thanks for mentioning that. Due to insider knowledge I had mentioned this conference even before it was officially announced.

I guess it is good that you are mentioning it again! Should be an interesting conference. I am very much looking forward to it.

Oh yes. Perhaps we should have a better way of keeping track of conferences.

Did you already mention the 86 th Peripatetic Seminar on Sheaves and Logic (PSSL86)?

Right. On the other hand, the current system is in a way self-optimizing: when even the hosts forget the announcements, then surely the readers deserve to get a reminder, too!

I had begun mentioning it, but I didn’t get to the point, then…

(More seriously: no, I didn’t.)

Re: Categories in Geometry Conference

I urge that we delete this somewhat redundant blog entry and simply wait until Urs blogs from the conference.

Someone with more energy than me could set up a webpage keeping track of conferences relevant to n-categories, with links to n-Category Café posts on them.

Even I might have this much energy someday, but I just wrote an exposé of PRISM, and it’s 10 pm and time for dinner…

My strategy so far to avoid this extra work of collecting links was simply to use the entry on which the conference was announced as a trackback collector: by mentioning it in every entry concerning that conference, it automatically collects all the relevant trackbacks.

(At least in principle. Seems to me that sometimes the nice automatic trackbacks somehow don’t get issued. Or don’t arrive. Or whatever.)
