Note:These pages make extensive use of the latest XHTML and CSS Standards. They ought to look great in any standards-compliant modern browser. Unfortunately, they will probably look horrible in older browsers, like Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x. Moreover, many posts use MathML, which is, currently only supported in Mozilla. My best suggestion (and you will thank me when surfing an ever-increasing number of sites on the web which have been crafted to use the new standards) is to upgrade to the latest version of your browser. If that's not possible, consider moving to the Standards-compliant and open-source Mozilla browser.

Mrs. Adler Lies!

Such a sweet looking old lady…

Mrs. Adler's Gefilte Fish label: 21 piece - institutional pack

Above is the label from a can of gefilte fish that we bought for the holidays. A large can, to be sure, but not (as I discovered, upon opening it) a can containing 21 pieces of gefilte fish. Nor 20 pieces. 14 pieces of gefilte fish … in a can labeled as containing 21.

Wars have started over more trivial affronts.

Re: Mrs. Adler Lies!

Interesting…..never heard of gefilte fish as a staple before.

We’ve prepared the entire raw mix, using premium quality white fish or salmon, fresh from the sea…Remember Grandma’s homemade Gelifilte

But yes a war….wouldn’t there be laws in the US with regard to false advertising? Jewish laws around this?

Best,

Re: Mrs. Adler Lies!

naaaaah Mrs. Adler didn’t lie! She included 21 pieces!
Black box or can of Gefilte fish: 21 pieces input - and then a miracle occurs - 14 pieces output.
Solution to Black box or can of Gefilte fish: Mr. Adler came along and snuck out 7 pieces, closing the can back up so he wouldn’t catch grief from her!

Re: Mrs. Adler Lies!

I would have thought 7 fewer pieces of gefilte fish would be a bonus.

Re: Mrs. Adler Lies!

Mrs. Adler’s #10 Gefilte Fish 14 ct. has the UPC 071956210218 while Mrs. Adler’s #10 Gefilte Fish 21 ct. has the UPC 071956210232 — apparently the can you purchased was mislabelled at the cannery; however both cans have the same weight and retail price. Canneries do make mistakes — about a year ago I found a tiny steel nut in my can of mustard greens … I am guessing that the cannery had a tiny loose bolt in its machinery.

Re: Mrs. Adler Lies!

Feel free to cut 7 of those pieces in half. Now you have 21 pieces.
Mazel tov!
