Note:These pages make extensive use of the latest XHTML and CSS Standards. They ought to look great in any standards-compliant modern browser. Unfortunately, they will probably look horrible in older browsers, like Netscape 4.x and IE 4.x. Moreover, many posts use MathML, which is, currently only supported in Mozilla. My best suggestion (and you will thank me when surfing an ever-increasing number of sites on the web which have been crafted to use the new standards) is to upgrade to the latest version of your browser. If that's not possible, consider moving to the Standards-compliant and open-source Mozilla browser.

Instiki 0.17

We’ve just released Instiki 0.17, with a number of interesting new features, and a ton of bug fixes.

Among the new features,

  • Ability to rename pages
  • Ability to redirect Wikilinks, using

    [[!redirect …]]

  • HTTP 301 redirects, for redirected/renamed pages

I should like to thank Json Blevins, Ari Stern, and the crew at ncatlab.org for their feedback, bug reports, and remorseless testing. I wouldn’t (indeed, couldn’t) have done it without them.

Thanks Jacques. These improvements really make a difference for us (ncatlab).

Re: Instiki 0.17

From what I understand, a single installation of Instiki supports multiple wiki webs, e.g.

http://ncatlab.org/web_list

What do you think about allowing redirects among wiki webs within a single Instiki installation? For example, it would be nice if I could insert

[[!redirects nlab:Eric+Forgy]]

onto my personal wiki web so that links on the nlab to my name, point to my personal wiki web author page instead.

Similarly, what about allowing us to change a page name from one wiki web to another?

For example, we have the main nlab wiki web, then many of us have our own personal wiki webs within the same installation. Now, we created a separate wiki web to handle more administrative matters, i.e. “nLab meta”.

There already exists several “meta” pages on the main nLab wiki web. It would be great if we could rename the meta pages so they redirect to the new “nLab meta” wiki web.

By the way, we’ve been getting a LOT of mileage out of the new redirects. It’s really a great new feature.

Thanks!

Re: Instiki 0.17

A tad off-topic, but lately I’ve been getting the following error message: “Your comment submission failed for the following reasons: You are not allowed to post comments.” when I try to post a comment at one of the other sites run on the “golem” server. Is there a way I could fix this?
