Note:These pages make extensive use of the latest XHTML and CSS Standards. They ought to look great in any standards-compliant modern browser. Is it Live, or is it Memorex?

Pursuant to a thread in sci.astro.research Ted Bunn has posted three CMBR sky maps.

Two are computer-generated noise. One is actual raw COBE data. Can you tell which is which?

Obviously the third looks different. Does anybody hold a different view?

Sorry guys! That one was too easy.

Bunn redid it, correcting a trvial mistake (subtract the monopole and dipole components AFTER doing the galaxy cut!) and the real COBE data is a bit harder to spot now.
