Pursuant to a thread in sci.astro.research Ted Bunn has posted three CMBR sky maps.
Two are computer-generated noise. One is actual raw COBE data. Can you tell which is which?

Nope. It’s the third one.
Sorry guys! That one was too easy.
Bunn redid it, correcting a trvial mistake (subtract the monopole and dipole components AFTER doing the galaxy cut!) and the real COBE data is a bit harder to spot now.
Obviously the third looks different. Does anybody hold a different view?
